I purchased this guitar recently for over $7000.  I love it, and it is beatiful and plays like a dream, but I don't play enough (or well enough) to justify keeping this gem.  This is a lovely and rare guitar.  Gibson did a run of special edition "guitar of the month" runs for their 100 year anniversary and only 30 of these were produced for the month of August 1993. This guitar is in in very good condition, with minimal scratches and minimal checking.  The neck is nice and straight.  No real play wear to speak of and the finish is bright, clean, and shiny. Gorgeous 5A Quilted Maple Top, Sides and Back. Figured Curly Maple neck showing great 3D movement, offset parallel bar inlays, hummingbird pick guard. Guitar has limited edition 1 of 30 label inside guitar, 100th Anniversary Case with Gorgeous Purple Liner, and Custom Placard on the back of the headstock signifying this special run. This acoustic sounds even BETTER than it looks. Tons of complexity and bright overtones, pick sensitive with great clarity.

Description

Up for sale is a beautiful Gibson USA J200 Jumbo size acoustic electric guitar.

As you can see, it has the highly sought after Antique Natural ( Blonde ) finish with an incredible AAAAA type flame back, neck, headstock and sides, as well as some beautiful Gold Hardware.

The guitar has only been played a few hours and it looks fantastic. There's a hairline crack in the top, that runs from the bottom of the bridge to the very (lower) end, and another cross grain crack, near the very bottom edge.  They have both been repaired and they're very tight.  Otherwise, the guitar is in near mint condition. 

Again, the book matched AAAAAA type flamed back and neck on this particular guitar, look absolutely
incredible. 

As you can see in the pictures, the ribbon flame runs all the way across the top, from side to side, and top to bottom. 

                                                                The frets are all original and they reflect very little use.

The Gold Grover tuners are also original and they work great.

The electronics work fine and the guitar sounds great, whether it's plugged into an amp, or ran straight through the PA.

You can save a lot of money here, as the MSRP on a brand new J200 like this one is $4925.00.

And they go even higher.   For instance, the MSRP on a similar Pete Townshend ( of The Who ) SJ200 Artist model is $5916.00 and the MSRP on a SJ200 True Vintage model is $6330.00.  

You'll also have to look at several hundred flamed J200's, before you find
another one with a flamey back and neck, like this one.

The guitar also plays and sounds fantastic.

still in near mint condition and it will only go up in value.

A Gibson Gold warrant card and owners manual are included as well as really nice Epiphone Hard shell case.  The lid is warped so one of the hasps does not want to close properly.  Otherwise the case is in very good condition.

Description

This auction is for a very rare Gibson J200 ARTIST model acoustic electric jumbo size guitar, with the highly sought after, factory original, ebony BLACK finish.  It's an authentic Gibson guitar that was Made In The USA.

The
guitar also has an active pickup with volume and tone controls, so it
can be played as an acoustic, or plugged into an amp (or the PA
system) and played as an acoustic electric guitar.   Six high
quality, Gold Grover tuning pegs, have been added as well as a strap
pin on the neck heel.   I
was told by the previous owner, that this guitar was custom ordered for
a touring performer, who also had a solid white SJ200 custom built at
the same time. The word ARTIST is also stamped inside the guitar, on the back of the body.     
This
is a players guitar that has been used regularly, by a working musician, so it's not perfect.   If
you're looking for a museum piece, please keep looking, cause this ain't
it.  However, if you want one of the coolest, high end pro acoustic
guitars ever built, that you can take out and play at shows, here ya
go.  The guitar is solid and it plays great.   It also looks fantastic on stage.  The electronics work fine
and they sound fantastic.  Up close, you can see the guitar has some cosmetic flaws.  And the camera flash on the pictures here, makes some of them, look very pronounced but again, the guitar looks great on stage.  The top has a repaired crack as well as some scratches and some dings in
it.  There are some scratches, dings and repaired cracks, on the very end of the body, mainly around the lower strap pin area.  Some of the binding has been replaced on the very bottom.  The newer binding doesn't match perfect, but it looks good from just a few feet away.  There are some dings, scratches, and and a couple of cracks in the back.  There are some dings on the back of the neck and some dings on the end
of the headstock.   Some of the finish has a haze to it, near where your right elbow would be, so if you want the finish to look the best, the guitar will need to be buffed with a good high gloss ebony polish. 

A
nice, high quality, TKL black tolex, hard shell case, with a plush blue
interior, is included.  The case has four latches but one of them is
broken.  The other three latches and the handle work fine, so the case
will stay shut, and certainly protect the guitar.  Other than the one
bad latch, the case is in every good condition.      Many pro players believe the Gibson J200 is the best acoustic guitar ever made.   In fact Elvis Presley owned and often played a BLACK Gibson J200 that's very similar to the one on this auction. Below are a couple of pictures of Elvis Presley " The King Of Rock " with his BLACK J200. That guitar sold at an auction for $55,000.00.    And
if you're wondering what that thing is, on the the body of the
guitar, below the mustache bridge, it's a Kenpo Karate sticker, that
Elvis added to the front of the guitar.       Many

Item Description

The Gibson ex-Huberman Stradivarius of 1713 is an antique violin fabricated by Antonio Stradivari of Cremona. The Gibson, while owned by Bronis?aw Huberman, was stolen twice. The first time the violin was returned shortly after the theft; the second theft, by musician Julian Altman, occurred on the evening of 28 February 1936, backstage at Carnegie Hall, while Huberman performed with his Guarnerius of 1731. Though Huberman never saw the Gibson again, the instrument was recovered 50 years later, in 1985, as a result of Altman's deathbed confession to his wife that he had stolen the violin.

This violin is the copy of the antique violin (also named "Gibson") which was made by Antonio Stradivari in 1713. This violin was made by Traditional Purfling First method, which keeps the measurements of the violin more accurate. The tone of this master violin is just like an old Italian master violin because of the high quality chosen tonewoods and careful craftsmanship paid to tuning of the tonewoods. I really love the very deep and dark tone of this violin, rich and bright for its treble tone. The violin has a powerful projection, as you might expect from new master violins. I actually like your violin almost as much a an older Italian violin i have which is much more valuable and that is saying a lot. and it is exactly what I was looking for. "

" Larry, I have had the sound post reset but not by my usual luthier, who is away so there may be further adjustments to make. So far the sound is quite good and even with good volume and projection. The only thing i would like to adjust for is to get a bit more bite and brilliance in the sound. When i showed the violin to the luthier, he said it looked like modern cremonese work and varnish. I like the quality of and accuracy of your Master which is why i enquired about the possibility of a Leduc copy. I have tried many China luthier instruments and almost all of them have a hollow sound quality compared with the European Master makers which is why i am not so keen on the Chinese ones. I don't know if it is due to tone wood or craftsmanship but this hollow sound (though may be loud under the ear) seems to be seen in many different China luthier instruments i have tried. Of course there are China luthiers that are as good as international makers and certainly there are luthiers from China that have won prestigious prizes and gone on to develope an internatinal reputations but their prices are also at the same level as other international makers!

If your luthier is interested in my proposal to make a Leduc copy (perhaps even with authentic thicknessing), i would be interested in pursuing this! Antiquing is not a prime concern, i just enquired if he did it out of interest. The shading and varnish on the Cannon is quite nice in any case. Do you know if he uses an oil varnish or spirit varnish? Best wishes, Weng "

Gibson C-6 "Richard Pick" Signature 1963

Summary

Body: Spruce top, rosewood back and sides.

Neck: Mahogany neck and ebony fretboard.

Cosmetic Condition: Looking good! Some small dings and surface scratches here and there, but all in all, it's in great shape.

Modifications: Two braces have been reglued. The fretboard has been refretted with some board chipping. Repro plastic saddle.
