Gibson J40 Acoustic Guitar, made in USA.
Instrument was purchased new in 1972. Only one owner.
About 10 years ago the top of the body (where the neck is attached)
developed length-wise cracks and the string tension started pulling the
neck into the body. String tension was immediately released, which
stabilized the situation (see picture), but the guitar is not playable
until the neck/body junction is braced.
Neck has never been reset, but this is probably in order after the neck/body repair.
The guitar is otherwise in good shape with only minor imperfections
after normal use. It has rarely left the house and was played regularly
before the situation described above developed.
Original hard-shell case included.
