Gibson Acoustic

today we have a vintage 1936 Gibson L 00 acoustic flattop guitar. while these did not have a serial number there is the FON ( factory order number ) stamped on the neckblock as shown, it is 947B and the B indicates the year of 1936.  This is a one owner guitar with the original owner having passed away about 5 years ago and the guitar was just brought in by his son ( who also sold us a mint 1954 Les Paul Junior and matching amp )  this guitar was purchased new by his father in 1937, his dad even took it off to WW II with him as he was in the Navy and used to tell his son how the guitar survived the invasion at Normandy and travelled through most of Europe. Luckily ,it had it's hardshell case then ( which finally succumbed to the travels and the guitar has since resided in a chipboard case as after it came home from the war, it only left the house to be used occasionally in church and then remained unplayed since the late 60's or early 70's.  The strings were un-tensioned when the guitar was put into the closet for storage so the neck is in perfect shape.  The guitar does have a output jack installed ( there is no pickup, it is not connected to anything ) and there are two small holes that are in line with the center seam that have been filled.  Other then that, the guitar is in pretty nice shape, it does have it share  of nicks and dings plus some wear but there are no cracks or repairs anywhere on the instrument.  All the braces and seams are tight, the neck joint is tight and the angle is good so it will NOT need a neck set, the bridge is tight to the body with no gaps and there is no bellying or sinking of the body ( it is perfectly flat ) there is some wear to the fretboard but the wear to the frets is minimal, a fret dress and polish will restore the frets to like new, the frets will NOT need to be replaced, has it's original ebony nut and 5 of it's 6 original bridge pins.  There is some sort of residue on the back where something was taped on, it is not sticky but it can probably be removed but I have left the guitar exactly as it was brought in ( I did check out everything and bring it up to pitch ), it could use new strings as these are very old but still held tension and allowed me to check the guitar.  Even with the ancient strings, the guitar is loud and robust. full and even tone , I'm not a fan of small body guitars but this is as loud and clear as my vintage Texan and Everly Brothers acoustics !  now I see why this model is so popular.  comes with the aforementioned chipboard case but will be appropriately double boxed to insure safe shipping.
