shipping to the lower 48 states,no post office boxes.I will not ship anywhere else,Make sure to check out my other 80 guitars at my ebay store "Axes Bold As Love Guitars". Here is a very cool Gibson CL-30 Deluxe acoustic/electric made in Boseman, Montana in 1997. In excellent condition, looks great ,plays great and sounds way better than I expected.Large Dreadnaught with killer tone, and volume.Has one crack in top that runs from the bridge to the bottom edge, and a couple of grain of rice size indentations[shown in pictures].I've owned the guitar for a while and the crack is stable. Otherwise near mint with very little play wear.Frets look great with only the smallest signs of being played. Very loud, balanced tone.Has factory installed brige saddle transducer, and sounds great plugged in.Has had a strap button installed on the back near neck heel.Comes with a real nice Gibson case in excellent condition.. Has low action, nice balance, and volume.Real fun playing guitar. The woods used in this one a very nice.A great looking, and sounding guitar for this price range. Here's a reveiw from Harmony Central: Now for the crappy stuff. I have added a new part to my ending statement.I now recommend that all the guitars I sell be set up to your preferences. Players have such varied opinions that I no longer want to hear about it. I only ship fully insured to the lower 48 states, and nowhere else. I describe all guitars to the best of my abilities.I don't take every guitar apart to check every freaking screw.I disclose all pimples just so there are no misunderstandings. All guitars are sold as is. Insurance is included in my shipping and handling charges.I will not ship out of the U.S. My feedback is public record, and I aim to keep it good. I will no longer do local pickups period. Make sure to look at all pictures carefully, ask all question before you bid! All sales are final, and there will be no refunds, or returns unless you can prove an item was grossly misrepresented. Consider this a contract if you bid. Sorry it has to be like that, blame the clever scam artist that spend all their time trying to beat somebody, instead of working. Most deliveries will require adult signature.

Features : 9 US made Gibson-Montana, 1998, same description as other reviews you see here. The bubinga back and sides have a distinctive grain with lots of figuring, and, being lighter in color than rosewood, give it a look that stands out in a crowd. It's a square shoulder body, what they call a "narrow dreadnaught", which is only a little smaller than a full dread, mostly in the upper bout. The aging toner on the top gives is an antique look.
The original bridge saddle was bone, I think, but the nut was Tusq or a like synthetic. (I've replaced both - I always make my own bone saddles and I had my Gibson authorized luthier cut a bone nut for it - see below.) Mine has a mahogany neck - but I bet a maple neck would be awesome and I'm jealous of the lucky one who has it.
It has an active Fishman type piezo pickup under the saddle, but no EQ controls. I had a strap button put on the heel of the neck, a personal preference.
The hard shell case is a TKL Professional Series type, with a plush lining that glows blacklight purple in fluorescent light - very cool.
One note - bubinga is as heavy as rosewood or even more so - it'll get your strap shoulder in shape.
Sound : 10 I play folk, rock, and some blues, in informal settings (I have a different day job), and this guitar's versatility shines throughout. The sound sings. It has Gibson's traditional sound - a loud but not overbearing bass, great mids and balance over the entire range, and the highs just shimmer. It plays sweetly when quietly fingerpicked, yet stands up to heavy strumming. It's just starting to open up - I can hear it open after I've played it for an hour or so, after it has rested in the case awhile. It had very good sustain when new, but you should hear it after it got the new bone nut and saddle. Amazing, nearly 10 seconds worth. I suspect the bubinga (which is much like rosewood in tone) helps this as well. Plugged into an Acoustisonic, the pickup gives an accurate acoustic rendering, and I don't really hear the "quack" that piezo pickups are sometimes known for. With the amp settings "flat", the bass comes through a little more than the highs, so I have to adjust accordingly.
Action, Fit, & Finish : 8 Gibson-Montana has been touting pride in craftsmanship in recent years, and it shows on this instrument. I'm glad they're getting this part of themselves together - Gibson's distinctive sound, which I like better than Martin's or Taylor's, deserves quality that rivals or exceeds that of these other well-respected, high-end builders. Was mine perfect? No, but for me to call anything perfect is rare.
The store had a set of (old) .013's on it when I first saw it, which threw the intonation off and bowed the top enough to make me wonder. I made them restring it with 0.12's (which Gibson sends them out with in the first place) and everything came back as it should be.
The action was standard Gibson, 7/64 (at the 12th fret) on the low end and a little lower on the high end, which is OK but I prefer 5/64 to 4/64, as I play a lot of the same stuff on electric and acoustic. My other 4 acoustics are all set up that way - some easily, some needing effort. The CL-30 Dlx needed only a little effort. I lowered it (in making a saddle), but found a couple of the frets needed to be dressed a little to remove one little buzz I created.
At first, the G-string "pinged" a little while tuning, but the new nut fixed that. The tuners themselves are precise and hold their positions well.
The solid woods look to be highest quality, the top and back are matched perfectly, and the sides also match each other very well. The nitro-lacquer finish is classic Gibson - a mirror - and I could not find any flaws anywhere.
Reliability/Durability : 10 If I played out, I would play this one. It would be fine with no backup, but I think I'd always have one just in case.
It's as durable as any high-end acoustic finished in nitrocellulose lacquer - you have to pay attention to its care. This means humidify it if you live in a dry place, and keep it from extreme heat/cold. Luckily, I live in the deep South and the humidity in my house never goes below 45%, even in winter or in A/C. If I ever move north, I'll use humidifiers.
Customer Support : 10 Standard Gold Warranty, lifetime to the original owner (me!). I doubt I'll need it. Gibson Customer Relations has answered my e-mails about various subjects, promptly and politely. I have nothing bad to say about them.
Overall Rating : 9 I've been plunking around off and on for 20-odd years, but only recently picked it up again in earnest and only recently looked into higher-end guitars. I have several acoustics and electrics, among them an American Strat, Gretsch G3100 acoustic, and an old (rare) A-Y DY73. I played other high-ends (Martins, Taylors, Larivees) before getting this one, and have played more since, and there are equals not none which exceed . Actually, a lot of the equals are other Gibsons.
The best thing about it is the sound. That it's gorgeous doesn't hurt either.
If stolen, I never want to meet who stole it - for their sake. I could replace it with a Songbird Deluxe, the current version of the CL-30 Deluxe except it's rosewood, or may look at one of the J series. The new J-45's I've played are sweet! So, of course, are the J-100 series and the J-200.
