Gibson Acoustic

Hello,

  If you're looking for the fanciest Gibson Acoustic Guitar with built-in EQ, pickup, and electronics that offer you a choice between a standard guitar jack and a balanced output, call Chris Isaak or Cat Stevens.  If they won't sell you one of their guitars, consider this quilted jewel.

  I've owned it for a year, but I have no time to play it.  The guy I bought it from was the original owner, and although he voluntarily advertised it locally, actually prying it from his grasp for less than $2000 was very, very, difficult.  But I did it!  Now, don't worry, I never touch it, so I can sell it with no regrets. 

  He went on and on about how only 2 of these were made by Gibson in 1994, and that the Anniversary Model was so very special.   If you look at the pic of the stuff included, (gold strap locks) instructions for case and EQ, etc, you can see the picture of the other guitar that was custom made along with this one in '94.

   Also, he related that all of the stars on this Elite were laid in Abolone, rather than the usual Mother-of-Pearl that lesser Starburst's were made with.  I can't see a big difference, but, as you can see, this guitar was made by the GIBSON CUSTOM SHOP, so it should be worth something.   Reportedly, it cost $3595 new in 1994, but I never saw a reciept, so this is unverified.  As far as I can see, it is completely original and unchanged, except for the tuners, USA Sperzel Locking Tuners, which were added by his local Gibson Shop, prior to delivery of the ordered guitar to the previous owner.  His band wanted two matching Starburst Elites in 1994, but since production had ceased the prior year, they reportedly asked their local Gibson shop to contact Gibson's Custom Shop, and asked for two matching quilted maple starburst elites to be built just for them.  The band lasted a couple of years only, but the guitars live on!!

   Anyways, the ONLY blemish that I can see on this guitar I had forgotten about until I took these pictures just now.  If you look on the left side of the 12th and final Picture in this auction, you can see that the clear finish and stain are worn away.  The guy who I bought it from related that it sat in a corner of his room for 2 years on a special cloth, but when he picked it up to play it, that portion of the guitar stuck to the cloth.  So he peeled it off carefully, but whatever was on the cloth had fused to the paint, and it stayed on the cloth.  This was 4 years ago, when I got it, I was going to restain that area and touch up the gloss finish over it, but I forgot.  Then I was going to do it today after I saw it, but I don't want to mess it up, and I don't want to hide anything from you.  I am confident that the wood is unharmed and that an hour with a tab of stain and a smooth application of clear coat over that usually unseen area of the guitar will blend right in and it will be forgotten forever.
