Gibson L-50 1938 Archtop Hollow-body Acoustic Guitar!
This auction is for a antique acoustic-electric hollow-body guitar. This guitar has been modified and fitted with an aftermarket acoustic-electric pickup assembly. Adding a electric pickup to this old of a guitar is common to help project a fuller sound. The tone and action on this guitar is great for its age. This guitar does have some moderate signs of use including scuffs, scratches, nicks, dings, and crazing. Crazing covers the entire lacquer finish of this guitars paintjob on body. There is spot on the backside of the neck towards the first two frets (see pictures) The frets and fingerboard do show signs of moderate use, however there is no fret buzz. Neck is straight and true. The original bridge has been replaced (when electric pickup was added) and there are two spots on the finish where it was set. The original open-gear Grover tuners have been replaced by modern style closed-gear Grover tuners. The nub for the shoulder strap on the shoulder is also very loose. Despite the cosmetic issues, this guitar would make a great addition to your collection or as a great gift!! This guitar has been dated using Gibson's FON/serial stamp dating system. The FON (FACTORY ORDER NUMBER) is 1199C (stamped in black ink) with the number "20" hand-written in red ink - indicating the years 1937-1938. The number part of the FON falls in the 1938 date range but the C after the 1199 indicates a production year of 1937. The red "20" is said to be a sort of item "ranking" order. This guitar's dimensions are as follows - 19" tall body, 16" wide bell (bottom bout), 11-3/8" shoulder (top bout), 3-5/8" deep at the bell and tapers down 3-1/4" . This guitar features a maple flat back and maple sides, carved solid spruce top, bound front and back, V-style neck, original raised pickguard, nickel trapeze tailpiece with raised diamond, unbound f-style sound holes, rosewood fingerboard with pearl dot inlay starting on the 5th fret from bottom, 1-3/4" nut width, 14/19 frets and sunburst finish. This guitar comes with the case (stickers on exterior), original tuners, original bridge and a vintage capo. Comes as seen in pictures!!!

ALL SALES TO A KANSAS ADDRESS WILL BE REPSONSIBLE FOR LOCAL SALES TAX!!!! If you are a KANSAS RESIDENT do not pay for your item until you have received the invoice with tax applied!!!! Local pickups are accepted, however if you plan on picking up locally DO NOT PAY YOUR INVOICE. Please contact me through Ebay messages informing me you would like to pick up locally. I will then send you and invoice that does not have a cost for shipping but will have a local sales tax applied. As well I will send you reply that gives you the phone number at which to reach me to arrange a time for the customer to come in to pick the items up. PLEASE DO NOT COME UP UNTIL WE HAVE ARRANGED A TIME, as only I am able to access items that have been listed for pickups.

Packages are usually shipped within 48 hours of payment receipt (excluding Saturday/Sunday)

Generally USPS is more for initial shipping but does not have much on tarriffs/fees but UPS always does!!! We reserve the right to choose carrier based on shipping method selected at time of payment. We may not ship an item out of the US if it is deemed to need to be shipped in a box bigger than allowed by USPS or UPS. Combined shipping is done at the sellers discretion. Combined shipping is allowed but must be paid NO LONGER than seven days from the FIRST item that ended.
