This Gibson J-200 Koa is a truly unique guitar made in 1992 by the
Montana Custom Shop. The workmanship is impeccable and the materials are
extremely fine. I have never seen another one like it. The top is beautifully
aged fine-grained spruce with a mellow pumpkin quality, and the back and sides
are made of magnificent book-matched master grade Hawaiian koa.  This is not the smaller SJ-200 (which has been produced from time to time in koa) but it is rather a full sized
J-200. The body is multi-bound with single bound fingerboard and headstock. The fingerboard and bridge are crafted of rosewood with J-200 MOP inlays, and the headstock overlay is ebony with inlaid MOP logo and crest. The three-piece mahogany neck has a dark center layer
which is probably either stained maple or walnut (see pics). The guitar is fitted with a passive
under-saddle element and end-pin jack, which is functional but appreciates a preamp.

The condition of the guitar is excellent. When I originally
acquired it some time ago, there were two small surface finish cracks in the top that did not
appear to go through to the wood. These are in the upper bout on opposite sides of the
sound hole, just above the pickguard. I had these professionally sealed with quality
nitro lacquer and buffed flush. They are still visible on close inspection (see pics) but
are smooth to the touch and have never moved since this excellent finish repair was made.
There is a bit of very light lacquer checking in a few places, and a few small/minor instances on the edges of the back where the lacquer on the wide binding is slightly chipped (see picture).
Otherwise, the guitar is very clean and plays beautifully.

I recently had the jumbo frets leveled, crowned and
polished, and the action was adjusted to 3/32 at the 12th fret. There is plenty
of saddle above the bridge for future adjustment, but I do not believe anyone
would want the action any lower than it is currently. The fingerboard plays
like butter all the way up and down with no buzzing, and the 1 3/4" nut
width make this a wonderful finger style guitar. The booming bass and evenly
balanced midrange and high range responses, with lots of depth and volume, quickly makes a J-200
junky out of anyone who plays it. I really hate to sell this guitar, but I am
moving my collection more toward vintage guitars, and have made some recent
acquisitions that force me to raise cash. It is a cliché, but my loss is
truly your gain.

This beautiful guitar is being sold as-is. I have done my best to describe it accurately but please ask any questions BEFORE bidding and view the photos with a discriminating eye. Sorry but no zero feedback bidders may participate in this auction. Thanks and good luck.

Again, I will ship this item ONLY to the USA. No international shipping. Thanks!
