Fine original condition. 1941 (FON 3888G 17) Gibson J-35 acoustic guitar with the following features:

Jumbo body size, original sunburst top finish with walnut stain back and sides, mahogany body, spruce top, mahogany neck with Brazilian Rosewood fingerboard and dot inlays, original frets, open back 3 on a strip Kluson tuners, Silkscreen pre-war Gibson peghead logo, rosewood bridge, firestripe pickguard, bound front and back of body, 2 tone bars, scalloped braces.

Guitar plays and sounds great! Recently purchased from the son of the original owner. Low action measuring 3/32 inches at 5th fret and 5/32 at 12th fret. Killer vintage Gibson tone and volume from this scalloped braces 2 tone bar verson (rarest and most desireable)

The guitar has never had a neck re-set and does not need one. The top and sides are crack free. The back has 2 profesionally repaired cracks. They are tight and nicely done. The frets are original and have plenty of life remaining. The finish is checked all-over.

Original Striped Tweed hardshell case included.

Recent George Gruhn Appraisal of 11,500.00

Here is what he wrote about the guitar:

I have examined the attached photos of the instrument described below, but have not seen the instrument itself.  Below is my value estimate, based on these photos, of the instrument however, it is not possible to judge from photos alone the exact state of originality and need of repair, so my appraisal is only accurate insofar as the photos are representative of the actual condition of the instrument.

The guitar described below is, in our opinion, a Gibson J-35 model made in the year 1941.

Description: We have been provided the following description :1941 Gibson J-35. 2 tone bars scalloped braces FON 3888G 27 on neck block 2 repaired back cracks. This instrument appears to be in fine original condition with the exception of the two back cracks which are described by the owner, but are not clearly visible in the attached photos. For the purposes of this appraisal we shall assume that the cracks are relatively minor. It conforms to the typical specifications of the model for the period in which it was made, with round-shouldered dreadnought body shape, spruce top with sunburst finish, mahogany neck, back, and sides with walnut-stain finish, Brazilian rosewood bridge and fingerboard with pearl dot inlays, white binding on the top and back edges of the body, nitrocellulose tortoiseshell-grain pickguard, three-on-a-strip Kluson open-back tuners, and white silkscreen script Gibson peghead logo.

Current market value: $11,500 (eleven thousand five hundred dollars).

Due to the high fees associated with Paypal, only e-check payments can be made thru Paypal. Local cash pickup, bank wire, and cashieres checks are fine. Checks must clear bank before item shipped.

We have done our best to describe this fine instrument. We feel our description along with Gruhns is accurate; therefore, this guitar is sold "as is" with no returns allowed.

Please bid accordingly.
