Gibson Acoustic

Some
of the previous auctioneers were not doing their homework: the top is
select spruce, the back and sides maybe mahogany or maple depending
on the year or country. This guitar is out of production now
and so is the real Gibson Everly Brothers J-180.

You
are bidding on a 1996 made in the Samick Plant in Korea Serial Number
begins S – 96XXXXXX, and the tuners are the pricey high quality
Gotoh tuners two tone gold and chrome. It appears to have a lighter
shade of mahogany verified by appearance with my lighted luthier
mirror inside and also in the tiny sliver of bare unstained wood near
the binding on back (pictured). With that same lighted mirror I see
grain from the bottom of the spruce top, but the guitar is painted
black opaque and can't see the edge of the wood on the sound hole.
This little guitar sustains and booms and I've been using a dampit to
humidify which I will include. The finish has some light polish
swirls, but not no cracks or dings, the tuners could use some
polishing, I did some of it. The is neck true and sweet, thinner,
fast and joy to play.

This
is a tribute guitar to Don Everly of the famous Everly Brothers and
bares his silk screened signature across the headstock. I can tell
you this guitar a value at a fraction of the price of it's Gibson
counter part, also thrown in the following luthier services: fully
dressed the frets, fret board, set the action low, even for mediums
(it can take it: shorter scale neck), and re-tweaked the bridge to
give it greater contact with top for optimal tone and volume. I also
have the original hang tag, but not the original hardshell case, but
my HSC but it has an arched top and an Epiphone sticker on it and
fits like a glove with keys even:)

I
haven't played out with this guitar yet. My house is a smoke free and
I a temperature controlled environment. I am also a guitar tech and
take very, very good care of my instruments. In that there is so much
fraud on EBay I can offer no warranty, there by I will say as
is...even though I know it is mechanically true and in perfect
working order.

keep them all, but this could be someone's number one guitar. View
