Gibson Acoustic

I bought this 1953 Gibson J-45 from Gruhn Guitars (Nashville) back in 1996. I walked in the store & this guitar was sitting in the middle of the main floor. Love at first sight. George Gruhn came out and shook my hand and told me that they had just put it out into the showroom & if I had been a hour later, it would have been gone. I played one show with it right after I bought it, then I became too protective for that sort of nonsense. 

Here’s some details :

- For the last sixteen years, I’ve kept it in it’s case when it wasn’t being played. 

- 99.99% of the wear happened before I became it’s caretaker. 

- The original tuners (Grovers are on it now) & bridge pins were replaced before my time.

- I don’t know if the case is original or not (It came with the guitar when I bought it.)

- It’s not a traditional museum piece, but it sure as hell belongs in the museum of MOJO. After almost 60 years, this guitar has grown deep & warm in a way that defies logic.
