Very well preserved very rare original Gibson ES300. 1 of only 147 produced in 1941. George Gruhn personally inspected this guitar and it comes with a letter of verification. I will quote from his letter.
" We certify that the guitar described below is in our opinion a Gibson model ES-300 made in the year 1941.""Serial number 97275. This instrument appears to be in exceptionally fine condition. It conforms to the standard catalog specifications of the model for the period in which it was made with 17 inch wide non-cutaway full depth body, small diagonal pickup, sunburst finish, spruce top, maple back and sides, mahogany neck and Brazilian rosewood finger board with double parallelogram inlay. The case is an original hard-shell with black exterior and red stripe which is especially sought after by collectors."
Price does includes the original 1940 EH 125 amplifier shown in the picture. The amp is original and in excellent working and cosmetic condition. Guitar and case are original with no repairs or modifications. Guitar does have a few minor dings and is just beginning to show some lacquer finish checking. Neck is dead straight and frets show only minor playing wear. Nice acoustic tone and sounds bandstand/jazzy when plugged in. Guitar projects nicely so I don't think the pickup needs to be re-wound. Pick-guard is beginning to show discoloration as Gibson pick-guards from this era have a tendency to do. Case tolex, latches, and handle look almost new. Interior lining shows some wear from the guitar sitting inside for 71 years. I noticed the pickup is a little bit loose. I don't know how to tighten so I will leave alone. It does not affect the playability of the guitar. This is a collector quality instrument that is great to play. It sounds fat and full when plugged in, plenty of volume.
IMPORTANT READ THIS!If the guitar is sold locally I will end the auction early. I pack and ship with great care and charge only the actual cost to ship. (check feedback). I will discuss shipping options and costs with the successful bidder. Shipping is not included in the auction price. I will not accept returns. Item will be fully insured for loss or damage. (I have never had a guitar or amp damaged during shipping in part because of my packing}. Bidders are welcome to inspect the guitar prior to the end of the auction. Don't ask me how much to ship to your location. For estimating purposes only, guitar in shipping box will be approximately 10x24x48 and weigh between 25 to 30 pounds. The zip code here is 95030.
