1957 Gibson J45 J-45 adj. with bone insert Vintage

Exquisite 1957 Gibson J45, has been skillfully and lovingly brought back into top condition by a luthier of 30 years experience. Bright sound with rich overtones and good volume.  Clean and easy playing, original frets have plenty of life in them.  It has had a quality professional finish applied using traditional methods:  nitro-cellulose sealer, aniline dyes mixed with sealer and nitro gloss laquer.  All finish mixed and shot with professional equiptment (not spray cans) in a clean-filtered spray booth.

All of the top bracing had been removed cleanly before the guitar was acquired so new braces have been constructed from Adirondack Spruce sourced from Luthiers Mercantile (lmii.com) using another J45 as a design reference.  A set of plans drawn from a 1957 J45 by Micheal Collins (collinsguitar.com) were also used for reference.  Bracing material was split for verticle grain before planing and shaping.  The braces were attached using hot hyde glue.  

Three old cracks in the top have been repaired with aged spruce splints with small internal cross patches, slightly visible but completely solid.  Small mahogany insert in the side where there was a small hole for a jack.  No cracks or breaks of any significance were found in the rest of the guitar.
