Up for auction is this awesome 1946 Gibson L-7 Archtop guitar.  The Serial Number is 98805.   This is one of the last with the Gibson Script headstock logo.  A medium-to-low-mileage guitar - gorgeous and great condition to boot.  Super solid, totally playable and sounds great!

SOME OF THE BEST POINTS:
NO TOP, BACK OR SIDE CRACKS.
NO TOP SINKING.
* NECK IS PERFECTLY SET FROM THE FACTORY - SHOULD NEVER NEED A NECK RESET.
* BRAZILIAN ROSEWOOD FINGERBOARD.
* TUNERS REPLACED WITH VERY EXPENSIVE KLUSON SEALFAST TUNERS.
* BINDING ALL THERE - SOLID AND TIGHT.
* ORIGINAL GIBSON HARD SHELL CASE.

SOME OF THE WORST POINTS:
* RE-FRETTED A LONG TIME AGO - A VERY GOOD BUT NOT PERFECT JOB.
* SOME CRACKING IN THE "WHITEWOOD" HEADSTOCK OVERLAY.
* THE TUNER HOLES WERE ENLARGED FOR THE KLUSONS AND ONE IS BENT.

SOME OTHER STUFF TO KNOW:
* Original Finger-rest / Pickguard included, but is a goner with celluloid cancer.
* Original Brazilian Rosewood Bridge Included, but base is over-sanded on bottom.
* Newer Ebony Bridge beautifully installed and fitted.
* Tail-piece is likely original - definitely Chrome Over Brass.
* Nut may or may not be original, but is outstanding Bone and very well cut.
* Un-original strap buttons.

The Original Tobacco Sunburst finish is beautiful, as is the whole guitar.  The condition is overall excellent, with typical blemishes from medium use.   Typical finish checking and little dings and little chips.  There is a blemish on the finish at the lower F-Hole from the old felt where the controls from a DeArmond Pickup used to be (Not included).

The 3-Piece neck is great and the action is excellent.  The Truss Rod works great - no issues.  As mentioned, the fingerboard is beautiful Brazilian Rosewood.  The frets were replaced a long time ago with medium-sized ones that are very similar to the original ones.  There is a little bit of chipping on the fretboard from the removal of the original frets.  The current frets are plenty playable and do not have much wear.  There is some tarnishing on the frets near where the pickguard was, due to the unstable chemical nature of the celluloid.

Included is the ORIGINAL GIBSON HARD CASE IN VERY GOOD OR BETTER CONDITION.   Well padded, and very protective.  There is some light damage to the interior where the pickguard was, due to the unstable chemical nature of the celluloid.  Otherwise the case is very nice - hinges and latches are all original and work great.  The handle is original and mostly intact.

This is a great vintage Gibson L-7 Archtop Guitar.  Beautiful and Sounds Fantastic!  Perfect for live or studio performance, video shoots or just a joy to play for the fun of it.   Whoever wins this one is sure to be a happy musician / enthusiast / collector.
