Up for bid is a 1968 Gibson Southern Jumbo Acoustic Guitar, Red Burst. Serial Number #928763
The condition of the instrument is good considering the age. The finish has a nice patina from years of use and care. There is checking on both the top, back, sides, and headstock of the guitar as well as a few nicks (shown in the photographs). As far as originality goes, both the tuning keys, bridge, saddle and bridge pins are original. The guitar has been set up by an A level Gibson authorized repair center and is in excellent playing condition. The bridge is stable and solid and the neck is straight. The frets do have wear to them but it does not effect the playability. The only thing to not is the hole at the lower bout of the guitar (pictures). This was from another sound hole pickup installed long before the guitar became mine. When I had the new pickup installed I inquired about fixing the problem but was told that the repair would do more to harm the guitars finish and looks than it would help, the repair shop inspected the structure and determined the hole was not an issue. The only unoriginal part of the guitar is the LR Baggs M1A soundhole pickup, the instrument jack has been routed through the end pin.  Its an excellent addition that makes the instrument a perfect players piece.
The guitar has been stored since I became the owner (6 years ago) in a non original hardshell case ( included in the auction as well as the nice vintage strap i dug up to match it) with a humidifer.
Its a beautiful instrument that longs to be played but I just do not have the time.
